MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
a broad range of knowledge, skills and attitudes that are now recognised as indispensable
The programme progresses through three levels. Each N level takes place over one trimester. After each trimester, students are eligible for a National Certificate on that level. We recommend continuing through all three levels in order to qualify for the National Diploma. The National Diploma requires students to work for 24 months in a Mechanical department before they are entitled to receive a National Diploma.

Technical and Vocational Education
National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) programmes
National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) programmes are delivered under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training. The programmes consist of 18 months theoretical studies at the college and 18 months relevant practical application in work places. Engineering studies range from N1-N6 while Business and Utility Studies range from N4 N6. The ultimate goal of the Nated courses is to award the student studying the course an N6 Diploma.
The acquisition of technical skills makes one more employable in the formal labour market
and also develops entrepreneurial skills across many disciplines.
Technical and Vocational Education will contribute to greater access to technical and vocational programmes in the Higher Education band. The central question contained in the White Paper (DHET: 2013) refers to how skills development can support the creation of a development state. Technical education will make an individual a valuable asset to the changing technological global environment.
